It is September already-can you believe it-I am glad summer is over-I really dislike the heat-I keep my air conditioner on from April until October-at 68 degrees-not a lot to write about-I have been busy preparing for the craft show in October at the Amory in Morristown New Jersey-I hope you will come and see the show and spend some money-here is a brief sample of what I am going

almost finished

Well it is August 6th and as I said before on August 11 my listings on Etsy are finished. I don't intend to put any more items for sale on Etsy. It has never in 10 years been any good for me so I am cutting them loose. There has got to be a better way to sell on line. I am tested to find it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I am now working on my weaving of cloth to make dresses and some tunics. As soon as I have a few photos I will post them on my facebook page and here on my blog. I also will update the Instagram. So I guess that's all for now-goodnight!

Due away with Etsy

Well today is a venting day-I am so not happy with Etsy-I have been on Etsy since 2009 and have sold nothing-that's right NOTHING-My stuff is good and priced right just like others that have the same type of things-they have sales and I have O-and etsy was supposed to be for items made by the artist and you can see for yourself there are all sorts of Buy/Sell things not made by the artist and brought in from places like China-my listings are up on August 15 and I will be closing down my etsy store for good-it's not worth it even through it's not that expensive but why should I contribute money to their pockets. A lot of the people on the forums say the same thing-Etsy seems to be trying to be an Amazon but they cannot-they even sent a letter to all etsy sellers that if they made their shipping free(they suggest we raise our prices to incorporate the shipping)we would be moved up in the search ranks-I did that but did not raise my prices and still I am nowhere in the search and there are people that still charge for shipping listed way in front of me-I am not happy and therefore will say goodbye to Etsy-maybe more of use should do the same thing and then maybe they would get the message-probably NOT!!!!

It's me again-how are you all- the sheep and wool show in Maryland is coming up in about 1 month-I can't wait-I will be going but only for Saturday-I really like the show and hope I can find some great fiber-I just got the DVD The Bridges of Madison County-I'm going to make a pot of tea and settle down to watch the great love story-Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep are great actors- I'm going to shut off the phone so there are no interruptions - so I guess this is short and sweet but it is 10 pm and the movie is about 2 hr. long. I want to work on some new nuno felting tomorrow-I dyed some cotton cheesecloth a beautiful robins egg blue-about 5 yards-and I am going to use lime green, fuchsia, lavender, lilac and periwinkle blue in both merino wool and silk velvet that I dyed-when the fabric is felted I will then think about what I want to make it into-something nice and light for the spring-I will keep you informed with some pictures-Ok that's all for now.

Hello!!! What's new with you--I have been working on some new fabric wrist cuffs-they are not only very pretty but they do keep your wrist warm and comfortable. They were a lot of fun to make-I used bits of my fabric stash and my needle felting machine. It works so great-easy to make really nice designs. I did some free motion embroidery with silk thread and then backed the whole thing with merino felt and my label. I am going to upload them to my etsy store this weekend for sale so have a look and let me know what you think-I really do like to hear from you all-the feed back you give me helps me to create more beautiful things-so please do tell me what you think. Hi everyone-I know it's been a long time since I last wrote and I don't have a good reason-well maybe-I am setting up a new website-more modern. It's not easy to remember how to do it even though I have Yahoo sitebuilder and I have so many new things to offer in my merchant store and on etsy. I have been weaving and creating clothing and wall hangings also working on some very special nuno felted shawlettes-very exciting stuff that I will be photographing over the next 3 weeks and then uploading to my website and Blog. I hope you will comment and let me know if you like what you see. Getting started with online selling is not as easy as one (me) would think. But I will make it. What's new-it's been a long time-my fault-I bought a saori loom and have spent a looooong time learning how to set it up -how to warp the loom and how to weave-I looove it -spend hours I should be sleeping--weaving-I have made about 10 pieces of cloth and now I will start to cut them apart(oh no!)and make some awesome garments. As soon as I get them finished I will photograph them and show you-I am making mostly jacket and scarves. Maybe next year when I have enough stock I will jury in to some craft shows and sell them-Yes SELL THEM-then I can buy more yarn and weave more cloth-it's a vicious addictive circle-I imagine there is an AA group for our addiction-I guess it could be worse-I love the feel of wool-the smell of wool and well just wool.I often thought I would like to be a shepardess and have my own flock-but then I read about all the things you have to do with and for sheep and well I decided to buy my wool a the sheep and wool show-by the way I am going to the New York Sheep and Wool show in October-I can't wait-I know I will be spending a LOT of money but well I can't take it with me so why not-Sometimes I wish I had found myself a long time ago when I was young-but then I would't have had the money and the kids were there so I guess it all worked out for the best. Look at Grand Ma Mosses-she didn't paint until she was ancient-I guess I'm almost there-when I am in my studio weaving I have three helpers-Kat, Tabby and Housini are lying on the floor all around me-they are my babies now since my children are all grown and don't need me anymore-but they need me-and it just feels right-it's peaceful and quiet only sound is the clank of the heddles as they go up and down and of course the purr of my cats-I like the peace and quiet-when the wind blow I can hear the music of my wind chimes and that also is relaxing-meditative if you will-well I guess I will go home-I'm at work now and it's almost time to quit. I will try and write soon(It won't be a year)

Here I am again-It's Midnight and I just got home-the restaurant wasn't very busy today-It has been a bad year for restaurants-every one is down in the numbers-big chain restaurants are closing sites, retail is very iffy to say the least but at least we have a business, a place to live and our lives-the people in the south who have just gone through the worst times of their lives-well what can words do now-how can we pick them up and restore their belief in their world-about the only thing(and the most important one)

   is Prayer-prayers to the lord to help them carry this burden and some how come out of it and be stronger-I will pray the Lord will give them strength and that through the many donations from good and caring people will bring them home safely. Ok enough of this sadness-It has turned hot and humid-I guess that comes from the hurricane but I also heard on the telli that their is snow in the north west-what extreme ends of the scale-I finished working on my website-I added a new page-Hats For Cats by Isadora-I put a radio button on the page and with a click of your finger on the mouse and you will be transported to the Etsy store to see what is new and now for sale-that's right-you can buy one of the most beautiful hats for your(or a friends)precious baby Kitty-Let me know what you think about the new line-and come and visit me at the Morristown Armory on October 20-22-I don't have my booth number as of yet but as soon as I do I will put it on my show page-I'm doing a couple of show in New England and will post the information as soon as I have it. It's been a loooong day-I did get a lot accomplished but it's still been long. I first did the inventory for my restaurant so I would know what I had to get at Restaurant Depot-then I made the menu for the special for the weekend and made the recipe cards for the kitchen cooks-then I took 103 photos (yes 103) of the new Hats For Cats Store on Etsy-I had to crop them all and then upload 3 new ones for the website-

Hello Hello Wake Up

Hello Hello-Wake up Yes it's Me-I know it's been a long time-Well I am sorry -no real excuse-just work and Life-it all got in the way-but hey-I'm here now-so well I have a new site I would like you to look at-I have designed Hats For Cats-Yes that's right-Hats For Cats by Isadora- it's on my etsy shop and you can see all that is new-Just go here   www.etsy.com/shop/HatsforcatsbyIsadora  and you will see everything that is new. I have a very large cat family-thirteen in all-some inside and some outside-with all those kitties I had to design a wardrobe for them and what better way to start but with a hat and then a scarf and then of course some jewelry-yes I have some necklaces and they are really cute. My daughter calls me the "crazy cat lady"(she says that with love) I do love cats-all sort of cats-but it does get expensive feeding all of them and of course I have gotten all of them Fixed!So here are a few pictures so you can decide if you want to look at the rest of them-and maybe buy one-of course for one of your special kitties.

I was recently looking at a bag of holiday candy-you know the kind that are all shiny like glass but are filled with chocolate-anyway the colors were so great that I decided to see if some of the beads I had would be a match-and YES they were-so I created these--have a look-the red one makes me think of red hots and the cinnamon and cherry flavor-the blue one reminds me of mint and it is such a cool color while the pink one-well that one is just so pretty-it reminds me of the strength of women even when faced with a devastating medical event or anything for that matter-I truly love the way the colors play off each other-When I made these I used a magnetic clasp which makes it very easy to put on and take off- take a look and let me know what you think-do you like the color combinations-what is your favorite color and why-I love to listen to the comments and get a feel of just what my fans like-thanks for looking and if you get a chance please like my face book  page www.facebook.com/Cynthiaandcolimited/        --thank you!

It has been a while since I last talked to you guys and for that I am sorry-my life has been somewhat of an upset recently but I guess so has yours-that's life I guess but sometime you have to wonder "what did I ever do to deserve this"but I guess it's like the guy who complained he had no shoes until he looked and saw the other guy had no feet-so it could always be worst-that being said I have to be happy about next weekend-It is the Morristown Craft Fair at the armory and I have a booth at it-I am going to show for sale some of my nuno silk felted scarves, some beautiful felted and sinamay hats, some of my crazy handmade jackets and also some very nice felted necklaces and bracelets-I hope you have the time to visit this very nice show-there are so many great artists that show their fine handmade items-I don't know the number of my booth yet as they are given when you sign in but just look for   Cynthia & Company Ltd. in the book of artist--look forward to seeing you there. New Website

Busy Day

I have been busy the last 6 hours taking pictures of the new work and updating my Instagram, Facebook and Etsy store-I am tired but I wanted to show a couple of picture of the work tonight-I should say this morning since it is 1 am on Thursday and I still have to do the menu for the restaurant-It is Robert Burns Birthday on Monday-You know the Scotish Poet-it's all about the Haggis and Scotch Egg-yes they are on the menu for this weekend-along with Sweed Kettle(Salmon), bashed tatties and neeps(mashed potatoes and mashed turnips)(really quite good) also McKlintock's Lamb Stew, and we have a very special bag pipper Dan Hodge who will be pipping the Haggis in on Monday the 25th of January and Vince Capano will read the Ode to the Haggis-it's quite a show-----anyway back to the new pieces-all are available on my etsy store--

SHIT DAY

I was trying to think of how to begin this new post--well it's been a SHIT day so I could start with "Oh PooP" maybe but that would not be as strong as it can get-soooo I will just say that it has been a very busy and frustrating day filled with a lot of pain--why --because it was the first day of physical therapy on my New Hip that's right I had my right hip replaced.The surgery was very easy-that's because I had the best surgeon on the east coast possible--Dr.Goldman--has hands of GOLD--on the day of my operation he had 6--that's right--6 surgical suits going at the same time-he was like a bumble bee flitting from one person to the other just cutting out hip joints and putting in new ones---the nurse told me I was #6 and he had 6 more to do-Wow-the recovery is not bad either-mine is two months old now and in about another month I expect to be pain free- ok on to something of a happier and more fun note---I have been working on new pieces for the up coming shows--I sent in my application and now I (like everyone else)waits to see if I got in to my first choices--I hope so--I have been making some really nice bracelets and scarves also hats--don't you just love hats--I do!  This is a hand painted by me charmuese silk scarf. I used the gutta resist method with fiber reactive dyes and then steam set the colors. It is about 15" x 72" long. The background is a robins egg blue and the motif is of fantasy flowers. The scarf is so silky soft and wonderful next to the body. So I have been working all day on these bracelets trying to upload onto my Facebook, pintress, and etsy store-what a pain in the ass--I am having trouble with my computer-it keeps hesitating , skipping and then going off the page and back to my face page-some times it makes noise and gets very hot and sometimes it even spits out black soot not a lot but enough so I can see it-either I have a virus(probably not) or cat hair is inside the body-NOW I CAN'T EVEN GUESS HOW THAT COULD HAPPEN! New Hat

Hi everyone-I am not happy now--I was bidding on a hat block on ebay and was sure to win it but the deadline was today a 4pm-I forgot and didn't put any extra bidding power with ebay and of course I was busy with other things when the time was running out soooooo I lost the bid-Poop-I really wanted that block but it was my own fault-well anyway I am almost finished with this NEW HAT I am making out of turquoise sinamay --it is going to be so beautiful I might not want to sell it. Will photo it tomorrow and let you all see it-I prefer to work with felt but my next choice would be sinamay, then silk, than abbacca. All hats are beautiful and so are the women that wear them-so if you want to be beautiful wear a hat- all heads will turn as you enter the room-I promise. Well back to work and see you tomorrow.

Happy New Year

It's January 3-Sunday night-10pm and all is quiet and Very cold outside-Happy New Year to everyone-My wish for you all is that this new year finds the World a little more tolerant of each other-I hope we can find a way of accepting each other for who and what we are-to not make judgements on each other and to treat each other as we would like to be treated-sounds good-but I guess we are only human(most of us)and coveting what others have is to be expected-not the way to go but no one ever said this was the perfect world-any way I am going to try and do what I can with my small part-I am not making any new years resolutions so I won't be unhappy when I break one of them-that's like setting myself up to fail-Ok so what is new in the fiber world-I am working on some new spring looks for the shows I hope to get into-I will be using Sinamay and Banana fiber to create some really interesting hat-I love hat-and I am so glad that wearing hats is coming back into vogue-I will also have some new jewelry created with the Japanese braiding technique called Kumihimo-you use bobbins wrapped with string that has beads strung on them-then they are attached to a round loom and you weave the beads and string into lovely bracelets and necklaces-I am going to photograph them tomorrow and put some of them up so you can see-maybe some of you will go to your craft store and have a go at it--
How was your Christmas-mine was very nice since my daughter was here with her husband-it was nice to have everyone together-I recently had my hip replaced so I was moving slow but I still managed to get dinner cooked and presents wrapped-One of the guys we know- who doesn't have any family at all- was going to be alone on this special day so we invited him to have dinner and be a part of our family if only for the day-New Year's Eve was the usual crowd at my restaurant-I never make it to see the ball drop in Time Square-this year though I was on the computer buying crochet cotton to make a skirt for my daughter-I found a beautiful picture of a skirt made by a Russian woman-it was very nice but of course there were no direction on how to make it ----sooooo I will have to try and figure it out for myself-I will post a picture of the skirt here and you can see how really nice it is-The Russians are such fabulous crocheters and felters but they don't give good directions--in crochet it is mostly a chart if anything and reading a chart with all the symbols is very difficult for me. Well I guess that's all for now--post those jewelry pieces tomorrow. Well I tried to upload the skirt picture but for some reason it won't post so I will have to try again tomorrow,
So it is January 4th now and I am going to try to upload the skirt picture and I also want to say Happy Anniversary to my beautiful daughter Suzette and her husband Brian-I love you both!!!!
